The clinic is also an institution for scientific and clinical research with a multidisciplinary team composed of surgeons and specialists in the fields of Otolaryngology, Otology, Neurotology, speech therapy, audiology, psychology, and education for the deaf.

The Rivas Clinic is at the forefront of issues related to Otology and Neurotology in Latin America. The clinic’s Cochlear Implant Program is a testimonial to its strength. The clinic’s expertise has grown along with the advancements in the field and in cooperation with clinics in Argentina and Brazil. The clinic’s namesake, Dr. Rivas, has personally implanted over 650 patients of all ages. Patients within the clinic’s program receive assessment services such as evaluation by a multidisciplinary team, surgical care, programming and auditory rehabilitation. The clinic performs an average of 105 cochlear implants per year. According to a survey, this amount corresponds to 1/3 of the cochlear implant surgeries performed in Columbia.

Countries like Peru, Ecuador and Mexico have developed successful hearing implant programs as a result of their collaboration with the Rivas Clinic. Rivas Clinic also specializes in the surgical treatment of deafness, performing highly complex procedures such as the removal of Vestibular Schwannoma and surgical management of vertigo, facial paralysis and other disorders.
