Vienna General Hospital has a particularly long tradition with cochlear implantation. Some of the world’s first cochlear implant surgeries were performed in Vienna in the late seventies. Since then, Vienna General has established itself as one of Europes’s leading centers in the field, with a strong focus on research and the advancement of the latest surgical techniques, the clinic offers comprehensive hearing implant solutions for children as well as adults.
At Vienna Genearal, children can be implanted with a cochlear implant as early as their first year of life. Vienna General offers cochlear implantation for individuals with profound hearing loss as well as middle ear implants for the hearing impaired.
The clinic’s particular focus, however, is Electric Acoustic Stimulation. Vienna General’s surgeons are able to implant as atraumatically as possible in order to preserve a patient’s natural residual hearing.
Vienna General is proud to be a member of the HEARRING. Its doctors believe that research works best through teamwork. Maintaining the clinics high standards in research and surgical technique is only possible through cooperation with other leading clinics.
