January 21 – 23, 2010 University Hospital Innsbruck

The workshop was hosted by the Ear, Nose and Throat Department of Innsbruck’s University Hospital. The HEARRING experts Prof.Dr. Herbert Riechelmann and Prof.Dr. Georg Sprinzl in collaboration with Dr. Millo Beltrame from Rovereto welcomed more than 25 surgeons from Europe, Asia Pacific and from Arabic countries.
Four live surgeries were performed and directly transmitted from the operating theatre to the lecture hall. The latest and most advanced techniques using the Vibrant Soundbridge as a device for the rehabilitation of sensorineural, mixed and conductive hearing loss and as a treatment option for patients suffering from cholesteatoma and otosclerosis were presented.
During the workshop surgeons also had the possibility of practicing hands-on in the temporal bone lab.
In addition to the scientific workshops the participants also took the opportunity to strengthen and deepen their relationships in the snowy mountains of Tyrol.
Prof. Sprinzl: “I was my great pleasure to have Dr. Beltrame as a collaboration partner here in Innsbruck. Together we designed and conducted this ambitious workshop and we strived hard to develop this topic a little step further for the patients’ benefit.”
